Caravans – The Roads Are Packed With Them

Friday, April 30th, 2010

Caravans and motor caravans have made quite a comeback. We’ve noticed it in the insurance brokers, and I’m sure they’ve noticed it in travel agents and caravan parks too. It seems that in a drive to save money, people have turned their backs on costly overseas destinations. Official Figures suggest that an extra 5 million holidays will be taken at home this year.

According to the National caravan Council there are now 500,000 caravans in regular use in the UK by no less than 1.5 million caravan fans. Meanwhile, the Camping and Caravanning Club has reported a massive 21% increase in the number of bookings. Perhaps its a counter cyclical marketplace, but the caravan manufacturers aren’t complaining about the recession. Swift recently reported 12% year on year growth.

However, one thing that all of this means is that the roads are going to be getting busier this summer and taking more and more punishment from people driving up and down the country to and from their holiday destinations. All this will be combined with the beating that the roads took over the harsh winter. Everyone has noticed the big potholes that have sprung up.

There have been times, when out on my bike, I have wondered if I might see a little kangaroo head sticking out from one of those pot holes. I am sure they will be causing damage to cars, caravans and motor caravans. Indeed I wonder whether they will actually cause accidents.

It is not a compulsory thing to have caravan insurance. However while it is optional, it is highly advisable that you take some out, after all, you wouldn’t want to pull any other valuable belonging of yours behind your car or leave it on its own in a park without having insurance for it would you? There are over 30 companies who provide caravan and motorhome insurance and so there is specialist advice out there, it’s just a matter of having the will to look for it. It is advisable to get a broker to help you track down the best deal for your specific needs as it’s good to get advice from a real person and to have your questions answered with no hassle.

If you are after caravan insurance, your best bet is to have a broker secure you the best price possible as many of them have long-standing relationships with the insurance companies and so can get you the caravan insurance for a better price.

What To Know When Searching For Life Insurance Quotes

Thursday, February 4th, 2010

Deciding to buy life insurance is a good idea for the long term security of your loved ones. But first time life insurance buyers are often faced with decisions that are daunting. A little knowledge about life insurance policies can go a long way before searching for life insurance quotes.

You will need to know what kind of life insurance is best for you, and how much you want to be covered for. On the market today, the most widely sold types of polices are term life and whole life insurance.

The whole life policy will cover you throughout your life. These policies are the ones that have been on the market the longest and many people still have a whole life policy.

Whole life insurance covers you in the event of your death, but there is also an investment component, which is designed to accumulate value for you. That is why you will pay more at the beginning of a whole life policy, because part of the premium is being put aside as an investment for you. After money has accumulated, if you wish, you will be able to borrow money against the policy.

With term life, you decide how long you think coverage is needed. A term life policy will not accumulate any money. At the end of the term, your coverage will come to an end and you will not get any of the money you paid back.

If your salary is high and you have been able to put a lot of money aside for the future of your family, term life might be just what you need. If, on the other hand, you do not make much and have not been able to save much, a whole life policy might be a better choice for the future of your family.

You will not have any trouble finding policies for you to compare. All you have to do is go online. Insurance companies and insurance brokerages have made it easy to do the comparison you need over the Internet. Once you have decided what you need, it will be easy to find the life insurance quotes you are looking for.

We are all becoming old, which is why there are millions of folks around the world seeking life insurance quotes. If you feel that life is becoming shorter, it may be time for your life insurance policies.

Life Insurance

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

Nothing is as unpredictable as life and for each of us to live comfortably in the world, we each have to work and earn a living and of course, as people get older, many want to start a family whom they will have to support with their income. In the unfortunate event of the death of a family breadwinner, on top of the grief that the family members will be suffering at that time, if the deceased person wasn’t life insured, then the family will face a huge financial burden as well.

Day in and day out we keep hearing of untimely deaths and you never know it could happen to anyone. One of the big concerns about this for most people is of course the sudden loss of financial support that their family would suffer in the event of a tragic accident.

In order for a breadwinner of a family to lead a life without worrying about what would happen to their family without them, there are companies that offer generous life insurance policies for anything up to 50 years, and so there will definitely be a life insurance policy out there that suits you.

Although it sounds like it would never happen, there have been many cases where a person has taken out a life insurance policy, paying large premiums with a promise of a huge sum to be paid to their family upon their death, and then the policy holder has been murdered by the beneficiary (the family member!) in order to claim the insurance money! So given that all insurance claims are not always legitimate, there must be a lot of careful research into whether or not genuine.

So when a policy holder dies, thorough research is conducted to ensure that the claim is genuine, and then the money is paid to the family. So if you are the main source of financial income for your family, you should consider life insurance to put your mind at rest against anything unexpected happening.

When To Take Out Life Insurance

Monday, August 24th, 2009

As a youth, we have no need for life insurance, as we have no dependents who might suffer financially if we were to unexpectedly die. However, as we grow older, Marry and start a family it becomes more likely that we will want to protect our families and loved ones from any tragic loss and the financial repercussions that might entail.

It is well worth insuring the main breadwinner of your family, just in case, unlikely thought it is, they suffer an untimely death, and then subsequently, you lose their income, it will not have the huge financial implications that the loss of that income under and other circumstance would incur.

There are two main types of cover, life insurance, which covers you for a predefined time period and pays out if you die, and life assurance which involves you paying regular premiums and then your estate receives a return upon your death.

If you have a young family (young children) and your family relies on one income, the it would be a sensible step to take to insure your life, at least while your children are living at home and in full time education as they will be fully dependant on you for this period. As they leave school and get their own income, their dependence will not be as high, and neither will your need for a large income.

How would your family cope if your income was to come to an abrupt halt? If the worst were to happen, what would they do? Would they be able to live? It is these kinds of thoughts that drive people to get their lives insured. The future is never certain but life insurance allows you and your partner to have relative peace of mind about what could be round the corner.

Life insurance can be quite cheap considering what it will do for your family if you were to die. Although if you are on a particularly high wage the premiums can rise, or if you have selected an expensive inclusion in your policy, but in the big picture, life insurance is a small price to pay when you consider what it will do for your family if you should die.

What to Look for in a Caravan Insurance Policy

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

It is important to buy caravan insurance because you want to protect yourself against the costs you might incur if your caravan is damaged accidentally or because of a fire, a theft, or bad weather.

Most caravan insurance policies will cover damage done to your caravan by bad weather, theft, accidental or malicious damage, fire and flooding.

The possessions within your caravan will usually be covered up to a limit which will be predefined in your policy, and will usually be around 300.

This possession cover is meant to cover belongings that would usually, in case of emergency, be left in the caravan such as furniture, curtains etc. However, money, jewellery and other valuables are not usually covered under standard caravan insurance and should be covered under all risk sections of your household contents insurance.

You have a duty of care to look after your property, so theft from your caravan will only be covered if it is properly locked up whilst you are away from it. So there will not be any cover if you leave it open, or you leave your belongings under an awning or in a toilet tent.

The same applies to your actual caravan, i.e. if it gets stolen and you did not fit it with a wheel clamp and a hitch lock, you will have no cover.

There may be different requirements for the security of your selected caravan site in order for your insurance to be valid. For example some insurers may insist that you park your caravan in a registered holiday park, whereas some may insist that your chosen destination in concealed by fencing or hedging around the boundaries.

You may be able to include damage to awnings at a small extra charge, usually there is a restriction on the age of the awning that can be covered, typically awnings that are more than seven years old cannot be covered.
